The functions of this Chinese medicine formula are to soothe and regulate liver Qi, drain heat and alleviate pain. This TCM herbal formula is best suited for conditions of liver stagnation leading to heat.

Indications and Symptoms for Jin Ling Zi San

intermittent epigastric pain, hypochondriac pain, hernial pain, menstrual pain, all pain aggravated by hot food or hot fluids, irritability

Tongue – red tongue, yellow coat

Pulse – wiry, rapid

Herbal Ingredients of Jin Ling Zi San

Chuan Lian Zi (Fructus Meliae Toosendan, Sichuan Chinaberry, Melia) - 30g.

-clears Qi level heat, promotes Qi movement, alleviates pain

Yan Hu Suo (Rhizoma Corydalis Yanhusuo, Corydalis Rhizome) - 30g.

-alleviates pain, promotes Qi movement, invigorates blood

Cooking Preparation of Jin Ling Zi San

When preparing this Chinese medicine formula one should grind all the ingredients into a fine powder and take in 9 gram doses with wine or water. If this herbal formula is prepared as a decoction a reduction in dosage should be applied.

Additional Information on Jin Ling Zi San

This herbal formula should be compared with that of Zuo Jin Wan (Left Metal Pill) as it is used for the treatment of liver fire attacking the stomach giving rise to vomiting and belching of sour fluids. Jin Ling Zi San is used for fire due to stagnation affecting the liver channel.

When the appropriate symptoms are present this alternative medicine herbal formula is able to treat such disorders as peptic ulcers, chronic gastritis, hepatitis and cholecystitis.
