Main Action of An Shen Ding Zhi Wan

This formula treats insomnia by tonifying heart and gallbladder Qi and calming the shen.

Indications and Symptoms for An Shen Ding Zhi Wan

insomnia with extremely light sleeping and fearful waking, easily startled, wakes up early, unable to fall back asleep, excessive dreaming, timidity, shortness of breath, clear and copious urine.

Tongue – light pink body

Pulse – wiry, thin

Herbal Ingredients of An Shen Ding Zhi Wan

Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng, Ginseng Root)

-tonify lung and spleen Qi

Fu Ling (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos, China Root, Poria, Hoelen)

-tonify spleen Qi and drain dampness

Fu Shen (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos Pararadicis, Poria Spirit)

-calm heart, pacifies the nerves

Long Gu (Os Draconis, Dragon Bone, Fossilized Vertebrae)

-calms spirit, soothes the liver

Yuan Zhi (Radix Polygalae Tenuifoliae, Chinese Senega Root, Polygala)

-calms the spirit, settles heart, expel phlegm

Shi Chang Pu (Rhizoma Acori Graminei, Sweetflag Rhizome, Acorus)

-open orifices, expel phlegm, harmonize middle jiao
